Influence The Future … Reduce The Spread!

Unprecedented – Uncertain – Unlimited?

Now that the fog of the immediate unknown is starting to lift:

  • We know what this Covid-19 virus is.
  • We know how it spreads.
  • We’ve seen how other countries are affected and can extrapolate what could happen here.
  • We know what we can do to reduce the spread.
  • We know that if significant measures aren’t taken quickly, the trouble will last longer.

We know a lot. 

What we don’t still know is what’s on the other side of this, no matter when that is. And right now there is no way to predict the future. BUT ….

Many of us, especially in this Wellness Vie Community, have known – have wished and/or prayed – that significant changes must occur in our society in order to gain the vibrant, sustainable life we know is possible.

Could this virus be our catalyst? 

We know that we are absolutely able to influence the future with our intent, individually and as a community. And even though we can’t physically be together we can, as a community, put our energy into the field.

Plans are in the works to hold regular Wellness Vie meditations and discussions either online or by agreement/scheduled intent. In the meantime, there are some things we can do to ease the feelings of disorientation, fear, and frustration and even more that we can do to influence our future.

  1. Make Time to Read 

Make a cup of tea or infused water, find a comfy chair and settle in for a good read. Perhaps find one book to expand your life and another just for fun. Take your time; read slowly. Feel the luxury of leisurely reading. I recommend:

  • Mindfulness for Beginners by Jon Kabat-Zinn
  • The Miracle of Water by Maseru Emoto.
  1. Focus on your Breath

Look into Bhastrika – AKA Bellows Breathing outperforms running in lung function tests and rejuvenates the nervous system. A one minute Bhastrika meditation pumps oxygen into the brain so that the brain thinks from the heart rather than from the mind.

  1. Bask in the Dawn’s Early Light 

Get up early, get a glass or mug of lemon water and see the early Dawn light on the horizon. Journal what you see or share the experience with a friend later.

  1. Get Outside

Put on your sneakers and a jacket and get out in nature. Marvel at all the species that peacefully share the planet with us. See how many sprouts you can see in your garden, in your neighbourhood or in the forest. Listen to the birds – they sing simply because they can’t not sing. How can you sing your way through your day?

  1. Create Something

Have you had a project in mind that you’ve been putting off? Yarn in the drawer? Paint stashed in the cupboard? Maybe there’s a fresh notebook that you bought with the intent of finally trying that journaling thing? Now’s your chance! You don’t have to dedicate a large block of time for it. You don’t have to be bold or perfect about it. Begin.
